Is Te Kohanga Reo a pre-requisite to gain entry into
the school?

Yes it is.

Who can enrol at the school?
Anyone that has a passion and a commitment to Te Reo Maori.

Do you teach English in the school?
We anticipate introducing English at a later stage in their
schooling.

How often do you have parent meetings?
At least once a term.

Do you have a Wharekura?
There is no wharekura.


Does Otepou have extra curricular activities or
sporting events?

We have a Sports Club run by dedicated parents.


Does the Kura have a school uniform and where can 
I purchase them?
Yes, you can purchase school uniforms at the schools office?

Do you have a school swimming pool? 
No we do not have a swimming pool, but we do have access
to all Tauranga swimming amenities who have professional
tutors to teach all tamariki.


Do you provide transport for students?
Yes we do, the school bus route is extensive, a copy can be
acquired at the office.


My child is not of Maori descent, can we enrol?
Children of other ethnical backgrounds that display a desire to learn, nurture, and take guardianship of Te Reo Maori are able to enrol. You don't need to be of Maori descent.

Are there any school fees, or voluntary donations?
There are no school fees, people who want to make a financial contribution can do so via the office.

Are parents allowed to interact with the children while in class, this will help me pick up Te Reo? 
Parent participation is encouraged.

Do I have to korero Maori when I come to school?                         English is confined to the staffroom and office only, parents are encouraged to speak Maori while at kura.
